Hey welcome to my site.
I've been painting professionally since graduating from Elam Art School in 1996 with a Bachelor of Fine Art. It's been great to develop and further ideas during these 10 or so years. There seems to be so much to explore with oil paints, it's endless.
To sum up, my recent paintings speak about water and earth, the seen and the unseen, it's a challenge to put the style into words. They are contemporary abstract landscapes. People often describe them as brooding, and I think that's because of the light and shadow aspect. Maybe that is what Art Historians have described as "the New Zealand light".
My work is always influenced by what's going on in my life, so perhaps there are elements there that I have collected from travels to India and other parts of Asia, also from Western European countries. Such as the beautiful objects and patterns and vessels that find their way into my paintings. Music plays a big role in my work, I listen as I work.
Thanks everyone who visited the Trademe site to view the painting for auction. It sold for $505, all proceeds went to A Roacha. A Rocha is a christian environmental convservation group who are working to show God's love for all the earth by inspiring and empowering Kiwi's to Ecological action.
